Probably a lot of people will want to rush out and get a Pit Bull or a Rottweiler after seeing this blog.

Look no further, our Super rescue dogs are fairly well-trained, available, and free to good homes.

Rocco is a really good boy. He is about two years old and is a mellow, loving, quiet kind of dog. He would make a wonderful family dog and would look out for the children.

Dale is really good too. Look at how beautiful and shiny his coat is. He is about three-years-old and has an awesome personality and would be perfect for a person or family into boating and camping.

Someone paid good money ($2,500) for Teva the Rottweiler. Now she is free to a good home. This is a very smart, athletic dog with a great attitude and temperament.

This group of dogs swims about six times every day and are pretty good at their job.

The female Rottweiler has more horsepower than the male Pit Bulls and Chesapeake and Labrador Retrievers.

Rocco gets tired after awhile and decides he has had enough. Bunker the Chesapeake Retriever got ahold of the ball and can be seen swimming in circles with his crew in tow. The dogs like swimming in tandem and it makes them feel like they are on the hunt.

"Clyde" the Boston Terrier goes home tomorrow. We are going to miss him.

Clyde exercised poor judgment when he bit the baby on the face is all.

Clyde will be staying with Grandpa for awhile in Palos Verdes now.

A temporary lapse in judgment doesn't make Clyde a bad dog.

Clyde will just need to be managed around children now is all.

Clyde is one of those dogs that you want to not give back.

Clyde had a big adventure and knows what a leader and structure are now.

8/25/09 - Dale, Duchess, Sadie, Teva, Bunker, Rocco, Hines

Duchess the Great Dane is learning to trust. She came to me for the first time in the yard today. Something snapped in her head and she sees me as her master now.

This is an amazing photo. "Duchess" the Great Dane and "Hines" the St. Bernard on "Stay" while the other five dogs eat.

Duchess will get over her shyness and soon will eat with the other dogs.

Dog Aggression Expert Disputes Dog Dominance Theories

The traditional wisdom is to not allow an aggressive dog to exhibit certain behaviors we usually think of as "Dominant Behavior." Things like backing into your leg, being pushing or deminding with the ball, or growling or barking at you. The traditional wisdom is that if you allow these behavior you are encouraging them.

I counter that dominant dogs needs an outlet or the dog will be frustrated and act out, instead the Superdog Method we sometimes encourage certain behaviors during training.

For example, I allow my Border Collie Archie to lean against me and growl. We snarl at each other like adversaries pitched in an epic battle. The difference is Archie knows it is a game, one I can always win and will stop in an instant if told. Also to Archie the Dominant Behavior is more about Play. We play fight for about 30 seconds per match, then I love on him and pet him good, then we re-start the game. The dog is so relieved and is then good because he instinctively knows snarling is bad but it makes him feel so good that he agrees to be obedient as the price of the being allowed to act out.

We seek to let the dog perform the behavior, then teach him the rules and limits to inhibit him, changing the motivation for him initiating the behavior.

In conclusion, trying to stop or eliminate dominant behavior is an ineffective approach. You want to be able to have your dog under control and inhibited while allowing the behavior in a structured training environment. Growling and snarling can be involuntary responses that needs to addressed by training. The goal of such training would be to use the snarling, leaning against your leg and aggressiveness as a reward system. "If you are really good, I'll let you snarl and show teeth at me, but the game is 'You Have To Stop In An Instant' then I pet you and you act submissive, then we start the game again.

What Superdog does is not dominate the dog or come at aggression with aggression. We train the behavior and control and manage it. Extinguishing the behavior is not our goal.

We do this because it works over and over again. Besides that, the dogs like it and it is kind of fun for the trainer too.

The only thing I know that controls genetic and instinctual behaviors is a doggy parent with the right attitude about what the relationship is going to be like. Remember, Superdog is Obedience, "It is going to be this way because I say so is why."

Most dogs like Archie can be trained if someone loves the dog enough. Many of the dogs you see in the pictures were animals other dog trainers, behaviorists and veterinarians gave up on.

Part of the reason I created this blog was to counter some of the scurrilous and untrue insults that certain individuals have annonymously posted about us on such websites as DavisWiki.com and Yelp.com.

www.Superdog.com, all the photographs, the nine videos and what I have written speaks for itself. Superdog is an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau and if we ever had a 'bad' complaint from a client, it would be resolved by mediation. As a BBB member we are obligated to agree to mediation if a customer complaint cannot be resolved with our management. Superdog has never been to mediation with a client yet. The few people who complain to BBB about us never want to go to mediation because they invariably ask for what is not reasonable and know an independent third-party would not agree with them.

No one has ever complained to BBB about the quality of our training, but the complaints instead are from people who try and shake down our small business for money. For example, their transmission in their car goes out and they cannot make their installment payments to us and fix their car at the same time for lack of funds. So they say they gave away their dog and demand their money back even though they clearly understood that they were paying for a program that would cost the same whether they completed and scheduled one or more lessons.

Several times the dog came back when we told these clients that there would be no refunds. Superdog asks for a commitment from people to keep their dogs and complete the dogs' training when they hire us. Certain people do not care and complain to BBB nevertheless, as well as posting defamatory lies about us online.

On DavisWiki and Yelp.com are posts from people who never even used our service and did not hire us talking about how horrible we are and what a lousy trainer I am personally. These are from dog trainers. One post says I hung a dog even. Another mentions that the people got no results until they hired a "Positive Reinforcement Food Trainer." Since when does someone get to destroy a business' reputation annonymously? Several of the people who posted wrote us bad checks, one on a closed account, and we put them in collection. They don't mention that of course.

Our business sued another dog trainer for defamation and unfair business practices for posting the most scurrilous lies about our business. This person also was stalking our family members and employees and making violent threats. He paid us over $50,000 and is now under a Superior Court injunction to not harass us or post things online. The person has ignored the Court's injunction and the Police over and over and over not to contact or harrass us further. We just ignore him now.

If you wonder who this person is: It is a dog trainer in Sacramento who falsely claims to be an author and a radio show host. He claims to do seminars and lectures all over the country. There are no photos of dogs he trained on his website to speak of. He does have a video of dogs on shock collars and him training one Pit Bull though. The truth that he testified under oath to is that there is no book, and there hasn't been any lectures or seminars, or people flying him anywhere. The website looks and sounds like it was written by a schizophrenic. BBB gives this person a big fat "F" as where Superdog has an "A" and is an accredited member.

We confronted Yelp.com but they demanded money from us to make a statement in our defense. Clearly, this is extortion and Superdog, Inc. will not pay them regardless of what is posted. No one really sees that crap anyway or cares. People hire us because from the photos and videos they can clearly tell we are getting much better results and treat the clients better than anyone else.. The best dog training actually works.

In conclusion, I personally guarantee the quality of the training you receive from any of my trainers. What you get at your house is what you see in the videos and photos, on our Method and Curriculum pages. I will do everything I can to help a client or their dog up to taking it to my home like most of the dogs you see on www.Superdog.com. I personally stand behind my trainers' results and guarantee you get results the same as if I came to your home myself.
